The Cycling Promotion Fund is delighted to announce that Queensland’s Minister for Main Roads, Road Safety and Ports, the Honourable Mark Bailey, will host and provide the Key Note Address at the 2017 Australian Bicycle Summit and Cycling Luminaries Awards.
The Summit, moving to Brisbane for the first time in 2017, brings Australian cycling organisations and industry leaders together to chart the course for cycling advocacy and development, as well as to celebrate achievement with the Cycling Luminaries Awards.
Minister Bailey joins national and international guest speakers and will participate in a public forum open to Queensland cycling stakeholders and interest groups.
The Cycling Promotion Fund’s Stephen Hodge said ‘the decision to hold the Summit and Awards in Brisbane recognises Queensland’s leadership in strategic planning for cycling which is critical to ensure convenient, safe cycling for all.
‘We are looking forward to the Minister joining with other experts to continue the conversation with Queenslanders on how better conditions for cycling will allow more people to cycle more often.
‘Minister Bailey and his Government deserve credit for the long term strategic focus they have on the planning and investment that is vital to make cycling for short trips a more attractive option, whether you are 8 or 80,’ Hodge said.
